Abstract

Summary. Standardized clinical diagnostic protocols with valid, reliable, clinically significant diagnostic criteria associated with a particular pathology phenotype should be used to study the prevalence of differentiated clinical diagnoses of temporomandibular disorders (TMD) and the analysis of independent research data. Such a tool is The Diagnostic Criteria for TMD – DC/TMD, developed and recommended by the International RDC/TMD Consortium Network (2014), International Association for Dental Research (IADR).
Material and methods. Bibliographic analysis of professional articles of electronic scientific resources PubMed; PMS free article; Google Scholar; Free Medical Journals, Research Gate, electronic resource: International Association for Dental Research, National Institute for Dental and Craniofacial Research; Institutional repository of NMAPO named after P.L. Shupyk, search and study of international experience in the application of unified diagnostic protocols and diagnostic criteria for clinical diagnoses of TMD. To assist in the translation used software service Google Translator.
Research results. The study of the scientific literature demonstrates the implementation of leading international scientific organizations that deal with the problem of TMD, standardized approaches in the diagnosis of TMD using valid, reliable, clinically significant diagnostic criteria for TMD – DC/TMD, which can also be widely used for scientific and practical purposes in Ukraine.
Conclusions. The use of a standardized approach in the diagnosis of TMD with the use of DC/TMD helps to obtain the results of the prevalence of clinical diagnoses of TMD in the Ukrainian population, as well as a comparative analysis of independent data from studies conducted both in Ukraine and abroad. It is relevant to study world experience in creating and using unified diagnostic protocols and classifications of TMD and a broad discussion of these issues in the professional environment in Ukraine for their adaptation and use. This will further contribute to a broad discussion and exchange of scientific achievements in the pages of professional Ukrainian and international publications, scientific conferences, etc.
Key words: temporomandibular disorders, diagnostic criteria, DC/TMD.
